Alexandra Bogdan - personal experience

Reflecting now on everything that creating this website over the summer vacation has meant, I can say that, for me, it has been an unprecedented experience, even new from certain perspectives, but one through which I certainly had a lot to learn.

Personal Development

Although this wasn’t the first time I worked in a team, this time I truly discovered the dynamics of working in such a context. First of all, I learned what it means to collaborate effectively and to demonstrate adaptability: to manage not to put your own vision first, but to give those around you the chance to present their own perspectives. We weren’t always on the same page, but we tried to find solutions that would satisfy everyone’s desires and opinions, which is an especially important aspect of teamwork. And every time, I discovered that by merging everyone’s ideas, the final result is surprising and reflects the contributions of each one of us.

Moreover, I am sure that both I and my colleagues faced the challenge of time management and task prioritization. Since it was vacation, it was sometimes difficult to synchronize our schedules, but together we managed to find the right moments.

Lastly, every technical issue we encountered along the way was, for me, an opportunity to learn something new. Even though they sometimes seemed impossible to resolve, we learned to view these challenges not as barriers, but as true opportunities for growth and learning. Furthermore, even the topic of the website was valuable, as it required thorough research and led me to discover things I might never have learnt about the history of the European Union, the lives, careers, and roles of each pioneer.

Professional Development

Creating this website gave me the opportunity to become even more familiar with HTML and CSS, without which our site would never have had such an elegant and pleasant appearance. Working both simultaneously and individually, we managed to come up with various design ideas for our website. In implementing them, we sometimes encountered difficulties, which allowed us to discover and eventually learn other useful techniques.

Additionally, this entire experience had a significant impact on the development of my skills in the English language. Working on a website in this language pushed me to improve my specialized vocabulary, to pay more attention to the nuances of expression, and to always find alternative ways to rephrase various ideas.

Therefore, this experience played a formative role for me, being the opportunity through which I was able to grow in many aspects, both professionally and personally.
